Dancing with The May King and Queen
Beltane 2002
Another hugely sucessful camp culminated in a traditional dance
around a maypole set in an oxbow of a river in the Vale of the White Horse.
Hope you enjoy looking through them and if you'd like to leave any comments

1 - With a pole THAT big a gang of big strong girlies was essential!
(Doris (far left) thought it was her new mop!!)
2 - You can hear the ladies thinking can't you? "Men! ...and you haven't tied the ribbons to the pole!!!"
3 - A braver man was never seen as Otter Bob volunteered to shin up the pole.
4 - some just took it all in their stride
5 - Bob gets his hitch knot tied while the men try to keep their pole upright.
6 - A beautiful sight as the ribbons catch the breeze.
7 - ready for the dance.
8 - Girls to the left, boys to the right...
9 - and let's get tangled up together
10 - and don't forget a kiss for everyone you pass.
11 - and you'll always get several opportunities as you dance around the pole.
12 - No time to stop. we've got a pole to wrap.
and eventually we entrap our new May Queen (Kate) and May King (Kieron)
and we left them there for the little people to play with.
and later there was music and singing and dancing and ceremony....
