The AWEN Workshop ~ Singing, Song-writing and Ritual

The Avalon Room, Glastonbury

Awaken the bard within and expand your vocal creativity during ritual. Your voice is an important part of ritual and this workshop will help you find your song and the confidence to sing it. We will work on drawing words into lyrics and finding the notes to sing; we will sing on our own, in groups and as an ensemble, producing a choral ritual to finish.

The AWEN Workshop ~ Singing, Song-writing and Ritual

The Workshop will take place on the 4th and 5th September 2021
Facilitators: Matt McCabe & Isolde Freeth-Hale
Participants should be familiar with OBOD ritual and ready to free their voice.

As the weekend is non-residential, accommodation can be found from Glastonbury Tourist Information Tel: 01458 832954 or via your favourite app.

Matt McCabe has been a member of OBOD since 1990. He has led ritual with the Northumbrian Grove and London Grove, and has worked with groves across the country. Since 2010 he has been delivering the Order’s Ritual Workshops with Penny Billington. He runs a heritage apple orchard near Bath, and is a passable singer!

Isolde Freeth-Hale is a singer-songwriter, producer, choral director and teacher based in Bristol. Her work draws on her love of nature, choral music and vocal soundscapes. She toured her debut EP, ‘Seed Bud Bloom’, across the UK playing at Glastonbury, Latitude and London’s Southbank Centre. She was commissioned during lockdown to compose a choral underscore for a virtual reality, meditation project called ‘Isness’. This was premiered at Burning Man Festival last year.
